Sample Activities

Over 25 pages of activities and exercises are included on the CD, using many of the features of the interactive whiteboard to give teachers the opportunity to thoroughly practise the key language. As with the story, sound is built into the activities to support non-specialist teachers with accurate pronunciation models. Some example pages are show below.

sea-side-vocab
manque

Pupils must guess which item of clothing is missing from a series of slides. This helps to train memory as well as to establish this particular set of words.

noughts

Always a favourite activity, noughts and crosses provides many opportunities to practise the language.

beach

Pupils read the words from the story and match to the pictures.

Lucie decides what to wear to go to the beach. Here pupils can learn the key vocabulary as  teachers click on the picture to hear the French. The grey boxes can be moved to reveal the French in writing. Beneath each picture is an invisible box which can be moved to show the English.

teachers-notes

The on screen teachers’ notes function (for Promethean users), provides teachers with advice and guidance on using each activity. Smartboard users can also access these notes in a different format via the attachments tab. The notes are also provided as a Microsoft Word file on the CD and can be printed off.

a-la-plage

Clicking on the numbers plays a sentence from the story. Pupils match the sentence to the item of vocabulary. Click the sound icon to hear the first sentence.

dice-game

Roll the dice (either real or on screen) for pupils to give the corresponding sentence from the story.

These are just a few of the slides which follow the story and present teachers and pupils with a wide variety of activities to practise and thoroughly learn the language. To see the interactive board in action, click on the link in the left hand panel.
